1. 国際会議の概要

The conference named as Advanced Photonic Congress (OSA -APC) 2019 was held in Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport, Burlingame, California United States from July 29 to August 1, 2019. This conference covers Integrated Photonics Research, Silicon and Nanophotonics, Novel Optical Materials and Applications, Optical Devices and Materials for Solar Energy and Solid-state Lighting, Photonic Networks and Devices, Signal Processing in Photonic Communications and so on. During this event, there are around 290 papers were scheduled, including 138 invited, 4 tutorial and 3 plenary presentations made by many of the world's most prominent researchers from academia and industry.

2. 研究テーマと討論内容

Research title:
8-ary OAM shift keying for FSO link with atmospheric turbulence

Discussion content:
Orbital angular momentum (OAM) has been attracting attention as an information carrier for free-space optical (FSO) communication to increase spectral efficiency and transmission capacity. However, generation and detection of OAM beams are complicated issues because of limitation in FSO, especially absorption, scattering and atmospheric turbulence due to the weather and environment structure. One of the main factors affecting the intensity and phase density of the received signal is turbulence which is random fluctuation in the refractive index of air. Adaptive optics techniques are used for compensation of turbulence. We investigate phase distortion issues due to atmospheric turbulence in our previously proposed 8-ary OAM shift keying technique for FSO system.

(コミュニケーション・国際交流・感想)

First of all, thank you for gave me this opportunity to attend this conference. It was very informative such as skimming students whose research is close to mine, listening leader's speech, meeting international students and exchanging experience each other. At first day of my travel, I listened invited speakers speach at the plenary session. Speakers from University of California, USA, Columbia University, USA, MIT Lincoln Lab, USA, and those people gave me vitality to do my research more structural, more beneficial and also more goal-seeking. Maybe, there is a possibility that I could be in front of a stand in some other day. Final day, I present my research. Before my speech, I felt kind of fear that someone could not understand my speech, if I receive unfamiliar question that I couldn't give answer and so on. But after all, I understood that there was no need to feel heartbeat, because everyone was trying to exchange knowledge and learn new things. So it was a big day for me not only conference side, but also in travel. I went to Golden Gate bridge and sightseeing in San Francisco. After all, thank you again for giving me unforgatable period in my life.
